Part of research has been done on the utilization of DSS in a wide range of areas particularly in Clinic. Be that as it may, we found that examination on the DSS System all in all (paying little heed to which area) has not been directed commonly previously. Paper additionally covers the dynamic procedure, the choice examination cycle, Framework of DSS which structure the base of the DSS. We have likewise made an endeavor to figure the Critical achievement variables of the DSS and Reasons for the disappointment of DSS. We have attempted to gather the majority of our information through optional research which includes grouping of information from existing examination archives and books.â In 1960 J. C. R. Licklider composed a paper on his perception of how the connection among man and PC can improve the quality and competency in perceiving and critical thinking. His paper end up resembling a manual for some future investigates on DSS. In 1962 with utilization of hypertext online framework helped away and recovery of records and making of computerized libraries. SAGE (Semi Automatic Ground Environment) worked by Forrester is most likely the main information driven electronic DSS. In 1964 Scott Morton developed an intuitive model driven administration choice framework which could assist directors with settling on significant administration choices. In 1970 John D.C. Minimal noticed that the necessity for structuring models and framework to settle on an administration choice was culmination to information, effortlessness, simplicity of control and vigor, which till date are significant in improving and assessing present day DSS. By 1975, he developed a DSS called Brandai d which could bolster advancement, publicizing, valuing and item related choices. In 1974 the emphasis was on giving chiefs with data which was from bookkeeping and exchange handling framework with use if MIS(Management Information Systems) yet MIS was found to not assisting supervisors with settling on key choices. Subsequently in 1979 Scott Morton and Gorry contended that MIS just fundamentally centered around organized choices and consequently the framework which likewise underpins unstructured and semi-organized choice ought to be named as Decision emotionally supportive networks. Gorry and Scott Morton authored the adage DSS in 1971, around ten years after MIS got well known. (David Arnott, An Analysis of Decision Support Systems Research, p.1) Decision emotionally supportive network now-a-days are basic for the every day activity and accomplishment of numerous associations. Because of which there is an enormous speculation being made on improvement, customization, usage and upgradation of these frameworks. In spite of the quick development of data innovation over the previous decade, the accomplishment of Decision Support System stays faulty because of the absence of inadequate examinations on the results. As David Arnott and Gemma Dodson expressed in Decision Support System Failure (David Arnott, Gemma Dodson, p.1) The advancement of a choice emotionally supportive network is a dangerous undertaking. The Volatile undertaking condition and dynamic nature of administrative work implies that DSS Projects are inclined to Failure. According to David Arnott and Gemma Dodson definition over its essential to comprehend why association take such a major hazard and put resources into a Decision emotionally supportive network. (Efraim Turban, Ramesh Sharda, Decision Support and Business Intelligence Systems, eighth Edition, p.12) Some of the variables why organization use DSS Systems recommended by Efraim and Ramesh are: Rapid Computation Improved Communication and Collaboration Increment Productivity of gathering individuals Improved information the executives Overseeing Giant Data distribution centers Quality Support Readiness Support Conquering psychological cutoff points in preparing and putting away data The paper here arrangements with the investigation of how choice examination occurs in DSS, Problems and there types, Why DSS are required or executed by association, Decision making process, Types of DSS, Reason for the disappointment of DSS, Critical achievement factor of DSS. Exercises that require dynamic structure a set or a gathering of issues, shifting from organized issue to unstructured issue. As Simon States The limit between very much organized and badly organized issues is unclear, liquid and not helpless to formalization. (The structure of poorly organized issues, 1973, Herbert A. Simon) the Decision making process, choice settled on and the style of settling on choice can be affected by the character of the individual and their intellectual style, and which is one of the significant purposes behind various choice guides being looked for. (The executives Information System 8/E Raymond McLeod, Jr. what's more, George Schell) Choice sorts as far as issue structure: Organized issues can be illuminated with calculations and choice standards. An organized choice can be characterized as one in which three parts of a choice the information, procedure, and assessment. Organized choices are made all the time in business situations. On the off chance that an inflexible structure is set for the dynamic procedure it assists with tackling the issue. Unstructured issues have no structure in Simons stages. These choices have indistinguishable segments from organized ones-information, procedure, and assessment however there nature is unique. For instance, chief utilize distinctive arrangement of information and procedure to arrive at a choice or objective. What's more, as the idea of the choice is distinctive a couple of quantities of individuals inside the association are even able to assess the choice and to affirm one. Semi organized issues have organized and unstructured stages. A large portion of the DSS System is centered around Semi Structured choice. Qualities of this kind of choices of this sort are Having some concurrence on the information, process, and additionally assessment to be utilized, Endeavors to keep up a degree of human-judgment in the dynamic procedure. To figure out which Support framework is required it is important to investigate altogether and comprehend the impediments and sick impacts, which the leader are showed with. Aside from which it is likewise critical to comprehend the goals of the framework. (The executives Information System 8/E Raymond McLeod, Jr. also, George Schell) Choice Support System Objectives: Proficiency of the framework. Deciding. To help chiefs, not to supplant individuals. Utilized when the choice is semi organized or unstructured. Fuse a database. Fuse models. It is additionally significant that like some other PC based framework the DSS ought to be: Basic Vigorous Simple to Use Versatile Simple to speak with. Since we have a concise thought regarding the sort of issues that are looked by the directors and the characteristics that the DSS framework ought to relate understanding the dynamic procedure would give a knowledge to the how a choice is made. Dynamic: (Authoritative Behavior, Herbert Simon, 1947) Herbert Simon in 1947 characterizes choice as the social and psychological procedures of settling on reasonable human decisions, that is, choices. It expresses that any dynamic is a social and psychological procedure of settling on decisions from a lot of alternatives accessible. Along these lines, it is significant for the DSS, to be precise enough for settling on a decision from a wide range of alternatives accessible. To settle on precise decisions from the choices accessible DSS takes help from compels characterized and the objectives that it needs to accomplish. (Authoritative Behavior, Herbert Simon, 1947) Simon states in his diary The individual making progress toward levelheadedness and confined inside the restrictions of his insight has built up some working strategies that mostly defeat these troubles. These methods comprise in expecting that he can segregate from the remainder of the world a shut framework containing a set number of factors and a restricted scope of outcomes. By this Simon imply that individuals with restricted information about a specific undertaking or area will build up some method that will assist the individual with overcoming these challenges. This one might say characterizes the fundamental reason for DSS framework to settle on help supervisors with settling on choice. It is additionally imperative to comprehend the term segregated from the remainder of the world, by this Simon implied that the choice ought to be simply be founded on the objectives to be acquired and dependent on the models characterized it ought not go under some other impact. He additionally figured a model of dynamic. (David Arnott, An Analysis of Decision Support Systems Research, p.1) Simons model of dynamic has been utilized in DSS examine since the fields commencement and was an essential part of Gorry and Scott Mortons fundamental MIS/DSS structure. (Picture Taken from Wikipedia, Figure 1) In Simon model of dynamic (Figure 1) there are a few stages through which an individual experiences to arrive at his targets or objective. Periods of Decision Making according to Simon Model are as per the following: Knowledge: Distinguish reality. Get issue/opportunity understanding. Acquire required data. Structure: Settle on choice models. Settle on choice other options. Search for related unmanageable occasions. Distinguish the connections between measures, choices, and occasions. Decision: Intelligently survey the choice other options. Make suggested activities that best meet the choice rules. Usage: Consider the decisionâ analysisâ and evaluation. Assess the expense of the proposals. Believe in the choice. Make a usage arrangement. Secure required supplies. Set usage plan into act. French and Indian War Effects Essay - 1048 Words

The French and Indian War had an almost innumerable number of effects on the political, economic and ideological relations between Britain and the American colonies. The war touched the entirety of America’s diverse population; from the Native Americans to the soldiers. Some were gladdened by the invigorated ties to England while others were enraged by the economic situation. There is no doubt that the war truly altered and revolutionized the American colonies. As a rule, the Native Americans are perhaps the most overlooked sector of the population of the colonies. This war completely varied their knowledge of their land and its value. â€Å"We know our lands have now become more valuable,† (Document B). No more would they be fooled by†¦show more content†¦This could possibly explain why the British were sure they would succeed in the Revolutionary War, as they clearly did not think much of the American military, or lack thereof. In contrast, some divisio ns of the colonial population supported Britain whole-heartedly with their lives. They delighted in the short-lived emboldened ties. A New England minister proclaimed â€Å"†¦the Children of New England may be glad and triumph, in Reflection on Events past, and Prospects for the future†¦Ã¢â‚¬ (Document E). Comprehensibly, he felt that Britain gave them a future, that they owed their lives to their mother country. â€Å"†¦Mother, who has most generously rescued and protected us, [must] be served and honored†¦Ã¢â‚¬ (Document E). This is a deep contrast to the ways of thinking possessed by the soldiers and Native Americans, and it would not last long. From a British economic standpoint, the French and Indian War, in addition to the Seven Years War, plunged them further and further into a seemingly endless mountain of debt. Profits and taxes were insufficient to keep the country afloat: â€Å"[the] revenue†¦is small and inconsiderable†¦Ã¢â‚¬ (Document F). This caused Britain to heavily tax its own citizens. The British citizens saw no justice in this, as they centered on the fact that their tax money was paying for American wars and military. Free Richard IIIs The Power of Seduction Ri Essay Example For Students

Free Richard IIIs: The Power of Seduction Ri Essay chard II Richard III EssaysRichard III: The Power of Seduction The word seduce according to Websters Dictionary means to tempt and draw away from proper conduct. This is exactly what Richard, Duke of Gloucester/King Richard III accomplishes in Richard III. In Richards life he does not only move from deformed hedgehog to husband, but from beast to King. One may ask how such deeds were performed. However, a second look may make the deeds look simple. Richard demonstrated a strong power of seduction throughout the play that not only seduced Lady Anne, but many others. Richards first conquest by seduction was Lady Anne. In the passage where Anne accused Gloucter of being the cause of her husbands death (I.ii.120-21), Gloucter replies not denying that he was the agent that caused the death. However, he follows by saying to Anne, Your beauty was the cause of that effect (I. ii.121). He continues using the excuse that her beauty caused everything. Finally, he actually admits that he killed Annes husband, but in the same breath he says she caused it. I did kill King Henry/but twas thy beauty that provoked me (I.ii.179-80). This seemingly sick and twisted style of persuasion works in seducing the spitting Lady Anne into becoming his wife. Obviously, by Anne taking the same hand in marriage that killed her former husband; one can see that she was drawn away from proper conduct. Rhe citizens were also seduced by Richard. However, in Act III.vii. his wits alone did not work the persuasion. He had help from the Bishops, props and Buchingham. The Mayor exclaims to the citizens,See where his Grace stands, tween two clergymen! (III.vii. 95). This is all part of Richards goodly act. He wants to win the people by being a noble and good man. He wants them to believe that he is not only a moral man, but a modest one. Buchingham proceeds in supporting Richard in this attempt. Buchingham observes Richard and states to the people: Two props of virtue for a Christian prince, To stay him from the fall o vanity; And see, a book of prayer in his hands- True ornaments to know a holy man. (III.vii. 96-99). Richard sways the citizens much differently than he persuaded Anne. He persuaded Anne by reminding her that his fault was caused by her beauty. One may say he was playing with her emotions. I suppose, the play on emotions is the similarity between these two acts of seductions. However, in the seducing of the citizens he played on their emotions in a different way, through modesty. After he was asked to become King he replies, I am unfit for state and majesty (III.vii. 205). This makes them believe he does not want the position. Which, for anyone to decline the honor of becoming King is quite confusing. Therefore, they ask him again, finally he accepts. Besides this scene being a seduction through modesty, it is also satisfying for Richard. What more could he want? He has achieved King by the citizens groveling in his favor. The only thing he may like or want to do more is to kill. Ha. This is only two examples of Richards great power of seduction, however, it is still very apparent that he achieves what he wants through this technique. Sure he kills, and cuts some heads off along the way, but if he seduced everyone in his favor and no action and murder occurred in the play then it would make to be pretty boring. King Richard was a great seducer.

Language and Identity in Kim Thuys Ru  Essay Example

Language and Identity in Kim Thuys Ru   Paper Written as a semi-autobiographical series of accounts, Kim Thuy’s Ru offers a poetically realistic portrayal of the Vietnamese refugee experience. It is a work of metamorphosis that takes the novel’s heroin on a rollercoaster ride from riches to rags to riches (from riches to rags to riches), in a tragic display of war-induced deterioration and consequential success. Similar to the typical immigrant narrative, the narrator, Nguyen An Tinh, highlights language as a barrier that hinders her from situating herself in a foreign space as a ten-year-old refugee in Quebec. My paper will examine the linguistic barriers that catalyze immigrant success, as well as the means by which these barriers are demolished within a setting distorted by war, diaspora, and refuge. It will also examine the significance of family ties and motherhood in the life of the novels protagonist. Kim Thuy’s choice for a title to her novel foreshadows the main theme of motherhood prevalent throughout the course of An Tinh’s life. Mother figures have undoubtedly played a major role in shaping her personality, both as a child and as an adult. In an interview, Thuy reveals that in her native tongue, Vietnamese, run means â€Å"a lullaby, or to lull† and is commonly used by mothers to soothe their child to sleep (â€Å"A Refugees Multilayered Experience†). From the very beginning, it is evident that Thuy places great emphasis on motherhood and its influence on An Tinh. Furthermore, In her adoptive language, run gives a more inclusive meaning; one that relates to family ties. In French, run means a small stream, a flow potentially of blood. The double entendre in the work’s title conveys the divide in language that permeates the protagonist’s life. Big mouth what puberty is really like. Professor Ramos Blog

Big mouth what puberty is really like. â€Å"Big mouth† is a Netflix animated original series that focuses on a group of friends in middle school and how they cope with puberty and the brutal battles that comes with it. This show sheds a much needed positive light on sex education, sexual orientation and puberty in a light hearted, awkward and very relatable way. According to another review on Big Mouth by Arielle Bernstein she states â€Å"how we learn to navigate a world where there is no clear roadmap for healthy sexuality, and where many of the messages we receive about sex are confusing at best and toxic at worst.† I feel that this show really does an amazing job on being very informative without sacrificing the humor. In the episode â€Å"Everyone bleeds† second episode in the two season series it discusses the changes of the female body along with constant fear of getting your period in public. Discussing the personal struggles that comes with coping with menstruation and combating the social stigmas. Showing how men can also make this time of the month a little bit easier for us women. Periods in general are usually only discussed with women by women and is seen as a â€Å"women’s issues† by having a male presence in this episode not just discussing periods but also lending a helping hand,it shows that we need to support our women more in this very necessary time on the month. Many videos can be found showing the hilarity of the lack of knowledge our men have on menstruation however this really shows the failed educational system that many men do not know or understand what happens to half the population every month. Tackling a lot in regards to the taboos on women’s health they have a whole episode dedicated to female masturbation, and in later episodes it is again brought up. Throughout the show there are many jokes and conversations about the boys pleasuring themselves which is very common but bringing to light that â€Å"Girls are   horny too† is a major win for the show. Not being afraid to talk about this very real topic that many people ignore or shame. Although Positive Sex ed. Programs are good for improving personal values, self-esteem, a comfortable communication style, and responsible decision-making skills, we do have to remember who the audience is when creating our sex ed programs making sure that it is age appropriate.Sex education is not just about discussing sex ,it is making sure the youth has a clear understanding and are able to create conversations in topics like â€Å"human development regarding reproduction and puberty, making sure that they understand rel ationships such as families, friendships, romantic relationships. Talking about personal skills like communication, negotiation, and decision-making. Making it is clear to students what sexual behavior and sexual health is like sexuality throughout life and   being safe and knowledgeable about sexually transmitted diseases, contraception, and pregnancy and Society and Culture like gender roles, diversity, and sexuality in the media† (Planned Parenthood). All of these are also part and should be part of the sex ed programs .Recently in early spring of 2018 in San Diego school district there where allegations of teachers providing inappropriate text in sex education   programs in aline with California sexual education by showing and discussing age inappropriate criteria regarding sex ed. By Showing cartoon versions of various sexual acts along with false facts about how STI are transmitted. This was the academic reading for middle schoolers, a similar story that was more local to us was about the parents of Orange county school district who were also protesting this inapplicable and unnecessary information for such young children. However unlike the San Diego story this one has no evidence of the inappropriate criteria. Yet this did force the California school district to reevaluate the sex Ed. program. In light of these protest this new criteria assures age appropriate criteria along that also â€Å"delves into specific issues regarding the sexual health and development of LGBTQ+ students and addres ses issues relating to HIV prevention, relationship abuse and sex trafficking.† according to David Washburn. This new programs does allow parents to remove their children from the sex ed program but they can not remove them from instruction related to sexual orientation and gender identity due to non-discrimination laws. Having the option of only educating children on sexual orientation and identity but not allowing them to learn about how to have safe sex when and if it comes up seems to be doing more harm than good. Kids are curious by nature by only filling them in on half of a important and inevitable topic this leads them to fend for themselves and could have a negative impact. This could take from in improper or false information on what sex is, the dangers that could come from it or how to go about it, like consent.                                               One of the characters of Big Mouth, Andrew Globermen who is voiced by comedian John Mulaney has parents who frown on discussing sex ed with their child Andrew. In one episode we see his mother trying to push through her own discomfort and try to explain to her son how to properly put on a condom using a banana to demonstrate by saying â€Å" you just kinda jhoosh it down† then enters his father out ragged that his mother is using his â€Å"last good banana.† In later episodes Andrews dad calls his son a pedophile and or pervert anytime sex is brought up ironically Andrew is one of the youngest in his friend group. With this, Andrew still is struggling with his misinformation and having a lot of valid questions, his best friend Nick Birch voiced my Nick Kroll co-creator of Big Mouth, his parents take the opposite approach of sex ed. His parents are very open about sexual orientation, preference and sex education in general. Discussing very openly about their personal experiences no matter the company around them. Both sets of parents are portray very extreme sides of how to or not to discuss sex ed with their children. The Characters mainly get sex ed talks from their hormone monsters, characters that represent their hormones giving them information on how and why they feel they way they do and how to handle it. Being another very informative episode of Big mouth is the â€Å"The planned parenthood show.† As they talk in depth about the many services Planned parenthood offers along with dispelling myths about the clinic. Making topics that can be uncomfortable like birth control conversations and abortions easier for us to understand. They do a amazing job on humanizing these characters and making us feel for them along with showing us the many different reasons people make the decisions they do regarding their bodies. Even showing us that not only women find planned parenthood amenities very useful. In very episode of this show when discussing â€Å"taboo† topics like these or when they touch on sexism, double standards, sexual pressers and racism this show does not fail to make you laugh and see and bring you back to those awkward times of   your youth. All in all I feel that Big Mouth is 5 out of 5, being extremely entertaining, relatable and educational. I would definitely recommend this show to everyone.

Analysis of Beyoncé’s Formation Video (Black Lives Matter)

Analysis of Beyoncà ©s Formation Video (Black Lives Matter) Beyoncà ©Ã¢â‚¬â„¢s Formation Video (Black Lives Matter) A Literary Analysis Research Paper Abstract Beyoncà © is one of the singers most recognized in the world and United States of America. She assumed a political role since some events aroused against Afro-American People, related with racism and police brutality. She created the musical video â€Å"Formation† to transmit a message to the people in favor of black lives matter. Keywords: Beyoncà ©, Video, Black Lives Matter, Illuminati, Creole, Alabama, Louisiana, Black Culture, Rapper Beyoncà © launched in 2016 her album â€Å"Lemonade†, including one controversial song, the number twelve in the list whose name is â€Å"Formation†. This unique song is accompanied with an award winning, well-produced and elaborated video, released on purpose, next to the birthday anniversary of Trayvon Martin and Sandra Bland, whose deaths are well remembered by Afro-American people as victims of brutal law enfor cement and racism. Beyoncà ©Ã¢â‚¬â„¢s â€Å"Formation† messages are about many more things than simple racism and police brutality. This song delivers messages about feminism, Creole culture, Beyoncà © pride, Black pride, Black power, sexism, LGBT, Hurricane Katrina remembering’s, and Beyoncà © intention to dispel the rumor that she is an Illuminati. This video masterfully reveals to faces of Beyoncà © at the same time, as an Entertainer and an Activist. (Caramanica & Wortham, 2016). All â€Å"Formation† messages could be classified in major and minor messages. This writing only deals only with major messages, and minor will be ignored. The major messages are one of this two possibilities: direct and explicit messages, or in the other hand are ambiguous, subliminal or hidden messages. This visual and musical work apparently deliver inconsistent sentences with multiple meanings, but that aspect is irrelevant to the first time viewer, because the video is very rich on visuals and plays sticky rhythms that distracts him from the powerful hidden and subliminal messages. This video is holistically great, verified by its numerous well written articles and awards received. Under a rigorous and serious analysis, many messages emerge with multiple meanings. Specially two types of messages could be identified: first, direct or non-ambiguous messages, and second, ambiguous messages with multiple or hidden meanings. Any person, not necessarily an expert will be able to recognize that the lyrics and visuals of this video were semantically engineered by a linguist or carefully designed by an expert on semiotics. Some messages are direct and non-ambiguous like: The Hurricane Katrina aftermath, the Police signs, Beyoncà © pride, Black pride, Black power, Creole Culture, and the effort to dispel the rumor that Beyoncà © are an Illuminati. On the other hand, there are ambiguous messages delivered with multiple or hidden meanings about sexism and LGBT. Those messages appear to the viewer to have multiple interpretations, but the final meaning decision is left free to the particular audience, their will, their virginal minds or the predominant psyche of the individual. Every sentence has two interpretations: the vulgar and the non-vulgar, the formal and the non-formal, the explicit and the implicit message. One of the first message delivered is about the Hurricane Katrina, when the video starts with a living phrase of a killed rapper, whose name was Messy Mya. The voice of the rapper expresses: â€Å"What happened at the New Wil’ins?† (beyonceVEVO, 2016), then the video shows up many scenes related with New Orleans Katrina flooding’s. Along the video are Police signs delivered with an apparent neutral connotation, but at the end they suggests indirectly a judgement to the collectively subconscious mind, who has been extensively influenced by the media with the events on police brutality. Beyoncà © is laying at the top of a New Orleans white and blue car, with the word â€Å"police†, partially submerged in the flooding water, sitting squatting, while the back scene displays a neighborhood with flooded houses. Some police departments may considered that scene disrespectful. In other scene, after a sequence of images of New Orleans daily living, the observer can see the word â€Å"police† at the back of a man that resembles a guard. Once again, the video attracts the mind of the viewer to the word â€Å"police†. It is unforgettable the scene when the young boy is dancing with a New Orleans Style, in front of an anti-riot line of policemen and they rise their hands, after that the camera shows a graffiti in the wall with the legend â€Å"Stop Shooting Us† (beyonceVEVO, 2016), this could be interpreted in many ways, but one of them, is the triumph of the weak using non-violent methods, over those that represent the governmental power By the end of the video, the police car got totally submerged under the water, with Beyoncà © lying at the top, drowning, giving the impression that the police problem is a lose-to-lose situation. This is confirmed by some critic’s affirmations that Beyoncà © is not trying to defame the police. (Logan, 2016). Black power is depicted when Beyoncà © shows up in an elegant long black dress with a big black hat, agitating his hand with a piece of his long hair in circles surrounded by Afro-American guys, also dressed in etiquette black clothes, at the door of an antebellum house, the image evoked in the mind of the viewer is about the power and the way that wealthy and powerful black people lives. The Black power is also depicted in the scene that shows a lonely black cowboy with a golden necklace. An explicit message occurs when Beyoncà © try to defeat the rumors affirming that she is an illuminati, using a unique phrase: â€Å"Y’all haters corny with that Illumi nati mess† (beyonceVEVO, 2016). The video exhibits some dual interpretations with sentences like this: â€Å"Paparazzi, catch my fly and my cocky fresh† (beyonceVEVO, 2016). This message could be interpreted as a sexual reference or a pride reference. Also there are some explicit sexual references, like: â€Å"When he fuck me good, I take his ass to Red Lobster, cause I slay† (beyonceVEVO, 2016), and there are ambiguous, hidden or second meaning sexual references, when she said: â€Å"I got hot sauce in my bag, swag† (beyonceVEVO, 2016), this sentence has two simultaneous interpretations: first as a reference to Creole culture in which women carries hot sauce in their purses, or a female sexual reference. The controversial word â€Å"swag† may be used in this video as a synonym of promotional items, stylish confidence, or with a sexual orientation reference, also this word correspond to a very well-known LGBT word that means â€Å"secretly we a re gay†. But the most incredible fact is that the word â€Å"slay† is mentioned 49 times along the video, probably, with the meaning of â€Å"extraordinary† or â€Å"killer performance†, but let’s consider that is also a well-known urban sexual reference. Beyoncà © pride is evident when she expresses â€Å"I’m so reckless when I rock my Givenchy dress† (beyonceVEVO, 2016), or â€Å"I’m so possessive so I rock his Roc necklaces† (beyonceVEVO, 2016), or â€Å"Earned all this money, but they never take the country out me† (beyonceVEVO, 2016). It is unavoidable that The Black and Creole culture message earned a strong reference in this video, with direct and explicit sentences like this: â€Å"My daddy Alabama, momma Louisiana† (beyonceVEVO, 2016), â€Å"You mix that Negro with that Creole, make a Texas bama† (beyonceVEVO, 2016), â€Å"I like my baby hair with baby hair and afros† (beyonceVE VO, 2016), â€Å"I like my Negro nose with Jackson Five nostrils† (beyonceVEVO, 2016). There is a direct reference to feminism and women leadership when she says: â€Å"Okay, ladies, now let’s get in formation† (beyonceVEVO, 2016). In the second middle of the video there is a black man holding in his hand a newspaper named â€Å"The Truth†, whose cover story displays the phrase â€Å"More than a Dreamer† with the photo of Martin Luther King, suggesting that his Leadership was bigger than his famous discourse â€Å"I have a Dream†. The final conclusion is evident. Beyoncà ©Ã¢â‚¬â„¢s â€Å"Formation† video direct and indirect messages are multiple and not only about simple racism and police brutality, but also was produced with the intention to reveal some paradoxical aspects of the southern living in the United States. This well acclaimed by the critics video was produced by professionals with the same intention as the â€Å"Bl ack Lives Matter† movement, probably become his Anthem. WORKS CITED [beyonceVEVO]. Epidemiology and communicable disease Assignment - 1

Epidemiology and communicable disease - Assignment Example The first case of Ebola outbreak was recorded in Sudan and Zaire in 1976 with a mortality of more than 200. In 2000, another outbreak of the disease occurred in Uganda with an incidence of 425 and a mortality of 224. In 2014 March, the WHO made a report of Ebola outbreak in West Africa, originally in Guinea, but rapidly spreading to Sierra Leon and Liberia. In Europe, 24 cases of Ebola infection have been treated with most of the cases being aid workers who have a history of traveling to West Africa. In November 2014, the latest case of Ebola in US was recorded with the victim dying within three days during the treatment process at Omaha biocontainment center (Muyembe-Tamfum et al., 2012). Ebola epidemic increases the disease burden in the health care system not only to the affected country but also to other states, which must take contingency measures to prevent the spread of the disease within their regions. Nevertheless, management of Ebola virus demands a collaboration in the health care system at international level. This ensures that different countries coordinate efforts to conduct research and surveillance on how the disease can be treated and prevented. Collaboration at a global stage can be achieved through harmonization of funds and human resource from different countries to engage the disease at the Centers of outbreak before it is transmitted to other regions (Preston,

Assignment Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 75

Assignment - Essay Example Whereas the quality of life is represented in a uniform fashion throughout much of the province of Ontario, only immediate regions around Winnipeg experience or exhibit a relatively high quality of life. This is further interesting as geographic analysis of these two provinces indicate that there is a relative level of comparison in terms of the overall education level represented between these two provinces. Another noted geographical difference between these two provinces has to do with the fact that Manitoba exhibits a very high percentage of foreign born individuals; as compared to Ontario which represents an extraordinarily low percentage. Likewise, higher population density in Manitoba and much lower density in Ontario could effectively be skewing some of the results that have thus far been reported and illustrated. Additionally, it was also noted that there were many more retired individuals living within Manitoba; especially within areas in which a higher quality of life was denoted. Obviously, seeking to determine whether this is a causal factor for whether or not quality of life is impacted upon by the overall representation of a more age advanced demographic is an exercise in futility. Yet, perhaps the most useful of metrics that was analyzed is in terms of the overall representation of primary industries within both Manitoba and Ontario. From the information provided, it was clear that Manitoba had a much less diverse economic base as compared to the province of Ontario. In much the same way that economic "Dutch disease" impacts upon the overall growth and survival of a particular region, the more diversified labor force and opportunities that exist within Ontario likely contribute to the overall higher level of quality of life and other metrics associated that have been discussed at length within this particular analysis. As Ontario is able to represent

Huanting Of Hill House Essay example -- essays research papers

THE HAUNTING ON HILL HOUSE Eleanor Vance has always been a loner shy, defenseless, and angrily resentful of the 11 years she lost while nursing her dying mother. She had spent so long alone, with no one to love, never had a real home and without any happiness in her life. Eleanor has always sensed that one day something big would happen, and one day it does. She receives an unusual invitation from Dr. John Montague, a man fascinated by "supernatural manifestations." He had been looking for a haunted house all his life. Then He heard about Hill House and he knows that he couldn’t let it go. His intentions with Hill House, was to go there, live there for a while and take notes of everything that occurs within the house, kind of like ghost hunting. So he rents Hill House for three months, organizes a ghost watch, inviting three people who have been touched by unearthly events. A psychic event from Eleanor's childhood makes her qualify to be a part of Montague's unusual study, along with stub born Theodora who was the not thing like Eleanor, and Luke who is the nephew of the owner of Hill House. The reason for him being there is because the family lawyer told Dr. Montague that he couldn’t rent the house without the confining presence of a member of the family during his stay. They all meet at Hill House an estate in New England. This is where i...

Lord of the Flies vs. A Separate Peace Essay

In the World Book Dictionary, jealousy is defined as being in an envious condition or feeling. Many can relate to this feeling, because they have personally experienced jealousy before. Although these people may share a similar feeling, the way each individual acts upon his/her feeling is different. Some just ignore their jealous feeling, hoping that it would quickly go away so that they can go on with their daily lives. Others become so overwhelmed that they actually may act on their emotions, expecting that their action would make them feel better. Usually, the contrary occurs. The person does not feel better about himself; instead, bitter feelings, a loss of respect, or even a loss of friendship are common consequences. In the novels Lord of the Flies by William Golding and A Separate Peace by John Knowles, the characters Jack and Gene both experience jealously towards another person, and their actions, motivations, and feelings all circumnavigate around jealousy. In Lord of the Flies, once Jack realizes that Ralph is going to become chief, he totally changes and becomes the antagonist. First of all, Jack acts out on his jealousy by attempting to harm Ralph. Although Jack’s scheme to kill Ralph is unsuccessful, Ralph is still very close to death. In the novel, the reader knows that Jack is plotting to kill Ralph because Samneric informs Ralph, â€Å"They’re going to hunt you tomorrow†¦[Jack] sharpened a stick at both ends.† When Samneric reports that Jack sharpened a stick at both ends, they imply that Jack’s cult plans to decapitate Ralph and stick the prized possession on an end of the stick like it did to the sow. Jack desires to use the head as an offering for the Beastie, a fictional monster that the boys believe haunts the island. As stated before, Jack decides to create a clan from his motivations that arise because of his jealousy. Moreover, since Jack knows that Ralph is always going to be elected chief no matter how many times the group of boys vote, Jack starts his own clan and elects himself as chief. When he does this, he openly tells his colleagues, â€Å"Anyone who wants to hunt when I do can come too.† By stating this, he is simply persuading people to support his feat. As Jack plans the death of Ralph, he does not feel any sense of remorse or guilt for plotting to kill his old friend. Jack is just excited that there will be a big hunt for Ralph. Gene also transforms drastically in A Separate Peace after he realizes that he will never be as athletic as Finny. Finny has always been able to accomplish goals and achievements that no one else can reach. Furthermore, Gene becomes jealous. In response to his covetousness, Gene harms Finny by â€Å"[taking] a step toward [Finny], and then [Gene’s] knees bent and [Gene] jounced the limb.† Gene does this so quickly that he does not realize the consequences in jerking the tree limb. He does not know that his action would affect the rest of Finny’s life. Unlike Jack though, Gene does not seek the support of his friends. All Gene wants is for Finny to understand that Gene did not hurt Finny on purpose, and he is greatly sorry. However, when Gene attempts to explain this to Finny, Finny just brushes it off and tries to convince Gene otherwise. He says, â€Å"I don’t know, I must have just lost my balance. It must have been that†¦I just fell.† Another difference is that after Gene shakes the limb and makes Finny fall and break his leg, he feels guilty about his act of jealousy. Gene actually goes up to Finny numerous times to explain that Gene was actually the one who made Finny break his leg, but Finny does not listen. Finny just stubbornly sticks to his reason to â€Å"[being] clumsy and not watching where [he] was stepping.† Ultimately, Gene is immersed with sorrow and guilt. His envy for Finny not only backfires; it creates endless shame and remorse. In the novels Lord of the Flies by William Golding and A Separate Peace by John Knowles, the main characters’ actions, motivations, and feelings are all outcomes of their jealousy towards another. Jack and Gene share the similarity of attempting to harm another due to their envious motivation. Yet, they are different as seen through their ultimate feelings. Both Jack and Gene aspire to become equal to their rivals, even if they must harm their friends to accomplish self-fulfillment. In the end, Gene suffers from guilt while Jack cannot be more pleased when his newly established clan obeys him to kill Ralph. Richard Griper says it best: â€Å"Jealousy is nothing unless you act upon it.†

The Subprime Mortgage Crisis Devastated The Global...

Writing Assignment #2 Financial Market Yuxue Zhang The 2008 subprime mortgage crisis devastated the global financial market. People believed that the â€Å"Big Three† credit rating agencies played a significant role at various stages in the crisis. The Reuters, in an article published in 2011, even claimed that credit rating agencies triggered financial crisis. The Reuters believed that Moody’s Corp and Standard and Poor’s action of downgrading the rating on complex mortgages securities triggered the worst financial crisis in decades. However, the problems of rating agencies have existed for quite a long time and accelerated the crash down in some extend. Therefore, besides the â€Å"trigger†, I regard the credit rating agencies as the†¦show more content†¦Investors assume the credit rating agencies, which full of experienced finance experts, can present a trust worthy and correct rating of credit risks. By implementing the external credit rating information, excessive trust in the system of cre dit rating agencies weakens investors’ risk management practices. Therefore, when those big, authoritative rating agencies rate those subprime mortgages as AAAs, investors put more money in the subprime market and expected to make big money. At first, the investors did make a lot of money in subprime investments, and they invested more and more, until they saturated the market. When the analysts in credit rating agencies eventually realized the bubble of the subprime market and they began to downgrade large amounts of mortgage securities, it was too late. When people saw the decline of subprime market and an abrupt downgrading of mortgage securities, the investors panicked and the market crashed. The rating from credit rating agencies accelerated the flourish of subprime mortgage market at the beginning, and eventually pushed the process of the financial crisis. Then, why people should not trust the credit ratings? In the year 2007, Moody downgraded over 5,000 mortgage securi ties. The downgraded mortgage-backed securities were totaled to $1.9 trillion; some securities that had
